Getting a mobile phone connection when you are abroad can often be tough. When Orange decided to switch off their Latin American roaming for a reason I still can't figure out, the logical next step was getting a local SIM and plugging in. Easy enough? Two finger print stamps and one passport later (plus about $50USD) and we're connected to the outside world again. but that was certainly a tad more ID than I'd planned. Are pay as you go mobiles really so dangerous that fingerprinting is justified? After all anyone can make a public call without trace.
