Teaching new models in digital marketing this week reminded me to dust off this classic... The multi award-winning BMW Films project was one of those rare moments when an advertising campaign is so powerful it succeeds in changing the medium it works within. High budget, all-action and with blockbusting stars like Madonna under the stewardship of A-list directors like Ang Lee, the movies were an instant cult success. They showcased the best in movie-making, and delivered it in the context of a message of brand associatiosn BMW had carefully crafted. By creating compelling media they generated their own self-selecting audiences without the need of heavyweight media spend. And as with so much of the web, even after the copyrights have long expired, they’re alive and well on YouTube.
There are more of these links in the Viral Marketing Academy now, so take a look here: http://www.digitaltrainingacademy.com/viralmarketing/

Thanks Susan. I've been teaching Viral Marketing quite a bit recently and have popped a couple of links to favourite pages and content up here. Try them out - and enjoy the comedy sketches about Macs and politicians too.

Sure - I'll email some links over to one of our online marketing classrooms. There's a heap of case studies in there that include more of these sorts of high quality films. BMW still rnks as the bigegst budget though, but Dove Evolution has the most sophisticated of models.
